Jehan Moorthy

President

Jehan has spent the last four years working towards a double major in Political Studies and Classical Studies with a minor in Anthropology. He is a veteran of campus life and has engaged in a fifth year, to continue what has already been a successful time in student leadership.

Athena Skarban

VP Advocacy

Athena is a fourth year Psychology Honours student with aspirations to pursue further academics in either School or Clinical Psychology. She is a mental health advocate and is passionate about being a voice for those with mental illness. She is also a member of the UManitoba Bison Track & Field team.

Jonah Wasylak

VP Finance & Operations

Jonah is another student who found that a life in athletics was key to the development of leadership and community building. Aside from being a bison athlete in the Bison Men's Hockey Program, Jonah is working toward a double major in Finance and Marketing.

Brooklynn Krul

VP External

At the beginning of University, Brooklynn's first two years involved building an academic pursuit of courses that would best suit her future goals in the entrepreneurial sector. Brooklynn is well versed in a diverse array of academic fields and hopes to find a role in life that encompasses her love of international marketing, psychology, and business. She is currently in her third year in the faculty of science.

Brandon Barratt

VP Student Services

Brandon is no stranger to the balance of commitment to a passion and academics. Moving to be a bison for the football team from a farm in Chilliwack, B.C, Brandon has spent the last five years making the University home. Outside of training and preparing for the regular season, Brandon is in pursuit of a degree in Economics with the hope of entry into an MBA program later in his life.

For Jehan, the University of Manitoba is the greatest campus in the world and he wants to see student life get even better. As president, Jehan will engage students by creating a greater degree of facts that will serve as a baseline on topical issues for all students.

The University of Manitoba is a great place to live, learn and to have fun. The role of VP Advocacy is a role that works in collaboration with the other executive members and Athena looks forward to supporting colleagues on addressing other aspects of campus life.

  • Increasing mental health awareness and support
  • Furthering Womyn’s safety organization to increase the connectivism of all women on campus.
  • Increasing the stature of advocacy
  • Fundraising toward the Hardship fund.
  • Review and revision of University GPA policy.
  • Growing and establishing new advocacy weeks

Jonah recognizes the importance of the development of the student voice for a better future here at the University of Manitoba. Jonah has made it his mission to make student voices the cornerstone of every project and scheme.

  • Evaluating spending and the UMSU budget.

  • Improving the UMSU & Bison Sports relationship.
  • Growing the operational efficiency of the Future UMSU team.

Brook understands that there is need to build a Union that is responsive to the needs of students, a Union that should be open and a union that should be accessible and inclusive of your position.

Brandon understands the realities of being a student away from home and has utilized the opportunity to involve himself in the social side of the student experience.

  • Working with admin to implement a FlexPass parking system.
  • Utilizing student feedback/surveys/stats.
  • Providing information and services relating to drug & substance harm reduction.
  • Patent and sell Frosh Brand to an external source.
  • Exploration of current UMSU & City of Winnipeg contract.
